10-11:30am Drumming Workshop (all levels inc intermediate/advanced)
You will learn a new Djembe rhythm in which all members of the ensemble will play cleverly woven rhythms, with Dunduns, Sangban, Kenkeni and Djembe. All drums will play a vital role in building the core of the rhythm, with call and responses and interchanging timelines.
12-4pm Dance Workshop (All Levels)
Three hours of joyous high-energy West African Dance (with a break for lunch). This masterclass will bring together solo movements found in Djembe traditional dance from across West Africa, that form the core of all Djembe dances.
About the Teacher
Nii Kwartey Owoo is an award winning choreographer from Accra, Ghana with extensive experience in teaching West African dance and drumming. He has an exceptional ability to explain the sometimes unfamiliar rhythms and movements and infuses his classes with cultural insights.
